We create encounters for women lawyers
Finnish Women Lawyers Association (Naisjuristit ry) is a professional network of almost 500 women lawyers and a group of law students. Our association was founded in 1945, when the women lawyers of Finland wished to establish a regularly assembling club for purposes of networking and professional development. The main focus of our activities is still the creation of encounter opportunities for women lawyers in the form of events, training, visits, and networking occasions. Since late 2021, we have allowed students to become members.
Besides members’ professional development, recreation, and networking, the aim of Women lawyers is the promotion of domestic and international collaboration of women lawyers, improving the position of women in society, and influencing the promotion of equality and current legislative projects. Women lawyers is a member of the following associations: Association of Finnish Lawyers, National Council of women of Finland, UN Women Finland and European Women Lawyers Association (EWLA).
As a member, you are a part of a network of women lawyers
As a member, you get to be a part of a wide network of women lawyers, training, events, and partnerships, as well as frontline opportunities for influencing. A lawyer’s degree is a requirement for membership. In 2021, the membership fee has been 28 euros. You can become a student member when you have a valid right to study in a programme leading into a law degree.
Events are central in our activities
We annually organize different events, all of which have a strong networking aspect to them. Our visit destinations have included embassies, listed companies, law firms, as well as judicatures, and we have also organized trips abroad. Our members have enjoyed current training events and keynote talks by leading experts and influencers of Finnish business sector and public administration. Current seminar series and mentoring and management programmes have also brought their own spice to our membership. Our board has even visited the president of Finland, Sauli Niinistö, at his Mäntyniemi residence!
Partner in developing women lawyers
Would you like to participate in the activities of Women lawyers? We are constantly looking for places to visit, current speakers, trainers, and experts for events, guest writers for our blog, and promotional codes relevant to women lawyers. We are also open to proposals for joined events.
Through us, our partners have a chance to get involved in current legislative discussion. Our partners also get a significant network out of our members, as well as visibility in our member bulletins and social media feeds.
